Lesson #1 - GeoHunt
Students will gain an understanding of the role of rocks, minerals, and fossil fuels in providing the materials we find in our homes, schools, and communities through a game and scavenger hunt for items made from geological resources.

Lesson #2 - Mighty Minerals
Students will be able to perform basic identification tests to describe the physical and chemical characteristics of minerals. In addition, students will be able to identify important uses for common minerals in Illinois.

Students will be able to identify common rocks and minerals that are found in a specific region of the state through the analysis of samples of sediments from local ponds, streams, or rivers.
