Tasty Treats - Create A Cell Project
You will be required to construct a model of a plant OR animal cell. All models must be made out of edible materials that will remain fresh at least 3 days without refrigeration. Avoid using materials that have an unpleasant odor or that may be considered offensive!

Each model must include all of the following organelles: cell wall (if plant cell), ribosomes, cell membrane, mitochondria, nucleus, vacuoles, cytoplasm, lysosomes (if animal cell), endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplasts (if plant cell)

Grading:
This project will count as a 100 point test grade. Grades will be based on the following questions:

1) Scientific accuracy
* Is the model labeled with student’s name and type of cell (plant or animal)?
* Are all of the required organelles shown?
* Do the model’s cell structures resemble the actual structures?
* Is each structure labeled with its name & major function(s)?
* Are the relationships between the parts (if any) shown?

2) Construction/Materials
* Is the model neat & organized?
* Is the model sturdy enough to moved around without parts of it falling apart?
* Did you use acceptable materials that can be eaten & will stay fresh for 3 days?
* Is the model a 3-dimensional representation?
* Is the model under 50 centimeters in length on any side?

3) Miscellaneous
* Is the model unique (not copied from someone else)?
* Are the materials unique & original?

You may use the following materials, but they cannot count as part of the cell: container, plastic wrap, paper, or toothpicks. Keep in mind that these projects will be eaten after they have been graded!

BONUS: You could be awarded with a bonus (5 extra credit points) if your project is selected to be the Most Accurate, Most Attractive, or Most Disgusting. Students will vote to decide the winner in each category.
